What to Expect
Tesla Engineering Germany is looking for a highly motivated colleague to manage new energy design engineering projects. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla.
In this role, you will define and drive the development of new products while also managing changes to existing ones. The position requires immersion in the design engineering process, guiding projects from concept through prototype validation and into production ramp-up. Leveraging your engineering background, you will assess product requirements, evaluate technical risks, and develop strategies to accelerate the development process. Additionally, you will communicate project status, highlight schedule risks, and create recovery plans in the event of project slip.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy on your programs while contributing to the development of tools and processes that improve the organization’s productivity.
What You’ll Do
* Fundamentally comprehend and scrutinize technical stakeholders' requirements and translate them into project scope with a clear execution plan and duties/obligations.
* Enable engineers to focus on development by proactively coordinating and organizing tasks.
* Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines are met by identifying risks early and implementing solutions through careful planning and continuous monitoring.
* Own and enhance project reporting tools, including developing automated solutions to streamline visibility on progress, risks, and changes.
* Define processes that will improve risk management and advise on best practices for documenting changes.
* Oversee operation scoping by coordinating cross-functional teams, assessing their needs, driving technical planning, evaluating options, and securing alignment across working and executive teams.
* Manage program costs for R&D forecast and spend, COGS forecast model, and monitor cost impact of changes.
What You’ll Bring
* Bachelor or Master’s Degree in an Engineering field: Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar.
* Strong communicator in English, crucial for successful stakeholder management across various levels and organizations; additional German language for internal communication is a plus.
* Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and maintain a strong bias for action.
* Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, with a proactive approach and can-do mindset.
* Excellent understanding of complex problems and ability to distill the message into a clear plan.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Skills with common workplace software, especially Excel, with the ability to formulate and supervise metrics.
