The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a highly motivated in vivo Research Assistant to join the Translation Group.

Your position
* Key person for in vivo Experiments
* Perform surgeries, behavioral tests, monitoring of experimental animals, breeding management of transgenic animals
* Perform molecular biology experiments (cloning, DNA, RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sample preparation for sequencing)
* Perform histology on tissue samples, sectioning, immunostaining
* Acquire a series of confocal microscopy images
* Quantify images using pre-defined algorithms
* Prepare GLP compliant reports
Your profile
* Biologielaborant/in (or equivalent education) or Bachelor's/Master's Degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or related field
* LTK1/FELASA or equivalent qualification is mandatory; prior mouse work experience is required, including surgeries, injections, managing animal cohorts and monitoring, behavioral assays
* Experience in genotyping and breeding management of transgenic animals is a plus
* Ideally the candidate lives in Basel-Area or is willing to relocate
* Strong experience in cell biology, molecular biology and biological research
* Independence in planning, conductance, analysis and troubleshooting standard molecular biology experiments
* Enthusiasm to establish and optimize new protocols and techniques
* Ability to follow GLP compliant SOPs and precision in documenting findings and preparing reports
* Highly organized, detail-oriented and computer skilled
* Fluency in both English and German is a must (written and orally)
