POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a hands-on and highly organized Director, International Human Resources to oversee the HR functions for our international employees in partnership with their US HR Team. This role requires someone who can collaborate well to provide a deep understanding of European HR programs and best practices with strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage relationships with external vendors and external partners across multiple countries. The ideal candidate needs to be able to think strategically and be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get things done in a fast-paced environment while ensuring our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently. The position will be based in Zug, but the ideal candidate will need to visit our Basel office on a regular basis.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and be the point of contact for all international employees as HR issues arise across Europe, providing practical support and guidance.
* Ensure our benefits are competitive across countries by conducting annual market assessments in partnership with the US HR team and our broker.
* Create an onboarding and offboarding program for employees, ensuring a seamless process compliant with local requirements.
* Support recruitment efforts as needed in partnership with the Global Talent Acquisition team.
* Act as a culture champion, ensuring that the company's values are embedded throughout the employee lifecycle. Serve as a lead member of the Culture Crew, actively participating and planning initiatives to support a positive and inclusive work environment.
* Help create initiatives to improve employee engagement that align with the global HR vision.
* Work closely with the head of leadership and development to carry out global L+D programs for the region.
* Manage HR audits when necessary.
* Provide support with our vendor to meet international occupational health and safety requirements, preparing necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance within each country.
* Create slide decks and represent the HR department in various international meetings.
* Travel required to the Basel office and some travel to US HQ and various international offices to support teams.
* Partner with the Office Manager on various projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
* 10+ years of experience in HR operations within Europe (specifically Switzerland), with hands-on experience managing HR in pharmaceutical or life sciences companies preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Strong background in managing benefits programs and working with benefit brokers across European markets.
* Comprehensive knowledge of European employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices, with the ability to ensure compliance across different jurisdictions.
* Previous experience working for a company with an office in the US.
* Proven ability to manage HR operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the capacity to take on additional regions as the company expands.
* Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
* Experience with HR systems and leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency.
* Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to create clear and impactful presentations for various HR initiatives.
* Experience working in a matrix organization.
* GDPR knowledge strongly preferred.
