Job Summary
This role involves contributing to the design of the Final Focus System (FFS) for future electron-positron colliders, optimizing performance and feasibility. You will work on evaluating different FFS design concepts, addressing challenges related to plasma acceleration in the Hybrid Asymmetric Linear Higgs Factory Project (HALHF), and developing beam dynamics simulation tools for FFS optimization.
Your Responsibilities
* Contribute to the FFS design of multiple e⁺e⁻ collider projects, optimizing performance and feasibility.
* Support in evaluating different FFS design concepts.
* Address large emittance challenges posed by plasma acceleration in HALHF.
* Improve and develop beam dynamics simulation tools for FFS optimization.
About the Role
We are seeking an Applied Physicist with knowledge of Beam Physics, experience coding in Python, and expertise in accelerator codes such as MADX, PLACET, and Xsuite. The ideal candidate should have a professional background in Accelerator Optics Design or Electron Beam, with a Master's degree and 2-6 years of post-graduation experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation experience.
What We Offer
* A monthly stipend ranging between 6287 and 6911 Swiss Francs per month.
* Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
* Depending on individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child, and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
* 30 days of paid leave per year.
