FELLOWSHIP

1. Organizational Context
(a) Organizational Setting
Fellowships aim to provide fellows with experience to strengthen their knowledge and professional competence, which they can apply in their professional field once they have completed their fellowship with WIPO. Fellowships should be awarded for specific activities, which provide the fellows training, within the approved workplan of the employing office.
This fellowship is located in the HR Talent Partners Unit, Talent Management Service responsible for building a fit-for-purpose workforce through adequate and agile Talent Strategies.
The main role of the Fellow is to support the Talent Business Partners who work closely with the sector leads, managers, and staff as strategic advisers on HR-related matters. The Talent Business Partners support and advise WIPO staff on talent opportunities and challenges across the Organization and have a key role to play in shaping organizational culture.
(b) Reporting Lines
The Fellow shall work under the supervision of the Senior Manager, HR Talent Partners team and in close collaboration with the Talent Business Partners.
(c) Objectives
During the fellowship, the Fellow will gain in-depth knowledge and practical experience of Talent Management practices (i.e.: Talent Acquisition, Workforce planning, Development, Performance, Engagement).
This fellowship provides an opportunity for a young professional to start building the skills and acquire the expertise for a career in the Human Resources area.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
The Fellow will perform the following principal duties:
1. Shadow Talent Business Partners, including the Senior Manager supervising the team, and gradually take responsibilities for different Talent Management activities delivered to each Sector.
2. Provide first line support to managers and staff related to Talent Management activities, covering a wide range of the employee cycle HR services. This includes the implementation of workforce planning activities, support internal mobility implementation plans for staff, facilitate recruitment, support capacity building of staff, analyze and provide data analytics to support decision making, and support engagement of staff and retention activities as part of the HR talent partnering portfolio.
3. Handle and coordinate administrative tasks related to Performance Management (preparing and sending reminders, handling the performance mailbox, following-up on performance timeline).
4. Undertake other tasks as required.
3. Requirements
a) Education:
Essential: University degree in Human Resources Management, Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Administration or related field.
Experience:
Essential: At least two years of relevant professional experience in the field of human resources.
Excellent (written and spoken) knowledge of English.
Knowledge of French.

* Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), the internet, and information systems, with the ability to adapt quickly to new software.
4. Terms and Conditions
a) Term of Fellowship: A fellowship may be granted for a period of up to 12 months. The contract may be extended one or more times, provided that the maximum cumulative length of the fellowship does not exceed a period of three years.
b) Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2025.
c) Stipend: CHF 6,000 monthly.
d) Travel Expenses: WIPO shall contribute towards the cost of the fellow’s travel on engagement and separation from service. If necessary, WIPO may provide assistance in obtaining an entry visa to Switzerland.
e) Insurance: WIPO contributes towards medical insurance and provides accident insurance coverage during the course of the fellowship.
f) Residence Permit: WIPO will request a “carte de legitimation” for the Fellow, which serves as a residence and work permit, from the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and to the other international organizations in Geneva. Family members of the Fellow are not eligible for a “carte de legitimation.”
g) Tax and Social Security: Fellows shall be solely responsible for meeting any taxation and social security obligations that may arise directly or indirectly from their contract with WIPO.

Fellows are not staff members of WIPO, and the position does not lead to any employment rights and entitlements beyond the terms of the fellowship.
