Job Description
As a Project Architect/Engineer in the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department, within the Project Portfolio Management Group, you will work under the supervision of a CERN Senior Project Manager, coordinating tertiary construction projects with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Phase of Tertiary Buildings:
o Participate in all design phases, from feasibility studies to construction documentation.
o Coordinate and evaluate designs prepared by external architects, engineers, and contractors.
o Coordinate designs with internal technical specialists (e.g. MEP);
o Oversee the design approval process in collaboration with building end-users.
2. Construction Phase of Tertiary Buildings:
o Work alongside the project manager and external consultants to ensure construction complies with contractual drawings, specifications, and regulations;
o Support the review of contractors' execution designs, variation requests, claims, and compliance with BREEAM/WELL certification requirements;
o Monitor project progress, quality, schedule, and budget, assisting in risk management and mitigation strategies;
o Manage interfaces between the contractor and CERN stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and coordination;
o Assist with commissioning, documentation handover, snagging lists, and take-over procedures.
3. General Project Support:
o Provide administrative support, including taking meeting minutes, document management, and quality control;
o Assist the project manager in any additional tasks required to ensure the project's success.

Your Profile
We are looking for individuals who have:
* Work experience in architectural and/or civil engineering design and/or construction;
* Work experience in consulting engineering, contracting or project development (client side);
* Use of MS Office applications;
* Autonomous, flexible, multi-tasking skills;
* Communication and diplomatic negotiation skills;
* Fluent in English; the ability to work in French would be an advantage.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet one of the following conditions to be eligible for this role:
* You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State;
* You have a professional background in Architectural or Civil Engineering (or a related field) and have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience;
* You have never had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.
