**Job Description: Associate Scientist QC Microbiology**
We are seeking an open-minded, goal-driven Associate Scientist to join our team in Bern. This role is responsible for the validation and transfer of various test methods and the performance of routine release and stability tests for new materials in the clinical and commercial phase.
The microbial methods used internally include sterility, bioburden, microbial purity, endotoxin testing, and the identification of microorganisms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform stability, in-process control, release, raw material, and environmental monitoring tests.
2. Analyze, report, and review test results.
3. Support maintenance of laboratory equipment and operation of instruments.
4. Support training and qualifications of team personnel.
5. Support timely and cost-effective planning and release of samples at required cGMP level resulting from operational activities, stability programs, and monitoring.
6. Support timely and effective completion of lab events, investigations, and CAPAs related to OOS and non-conformances.
7. Able to support in method qualification, verification, and co-validation activities, if required.
8. Lead and support continuous improvement projects within Quality Control in operational efficiency and GMP compliance.
9. Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, processes, and guidelines.
10. Provide support to analytical development, process development, and other stakeholders when the need arises.
11. Support inspections during preparation, execution, and follow-up.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
1. A university degree in natural sciences, applied sciences, microbiology or equivalent.
2. Work experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or vaccine industry.
3. Experience in a cGMP regulated environment is a plus.
4. Solid knowledge of microbiological laboratory operations and practices.
5. Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
6. Good communication abilities.
7. A proactive attitude, teamwork, and leadership skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and assignments simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
9. Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks to plan and execute according to agreed deadlines.
10. Good IT user skills.
11. Good verbal and written skills in English and German.
