Your Responsibilities
We are seeking an Applied Physicist to contribute to the design of the Final Focus System (FFS) for future electron-positron colliders, such as the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC), International Linear Collider (ILC), Hybrid Asymmetric Linear Higgs Factory Project (HALHF), and Future Circular Collider (FCC).
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:
* Designing and optimizing FFS concepts for multiple e⁺e⁻ collider projects.
* Evaluating different FFS design concepts and identifying areas for improvement.
* Addressing large emittance challenges posed by plasma acceleration in HALHF.
* Developing and improving beam dynamics simulation tools for FFS optimization.
* Participating in experimental demonstrations to validate FFS feasibility and performance.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:
* Strong knowledge of Beam Physics.
* Experience coding in Python, with expertise in accelerator codes such as MADX, PLACET, and Xsuite.
* Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
Eligibility Criteria
* You must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* You hold a Master's degree with 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
* You have a professional background in Accelerator Optics Design or Electron Beam (or a related field).
* You have never had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.
