MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines.
METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.
Job Description Develop and execute structured gas trading strategies, focusing on optimizing both short- and long-term positions.
Design, structure, and price innovative gas products, including forward contracts, swaps, and other bespoke solutions for clients.
Leverage market analysis, data modeling, and quantitative techniques to forecast market trends and create profitable trading opportunities.
Collaborate with origination teams to structure long-term contracts and hedging solutions for clients, focusing on risk mitigation and value generation.
Manage gas trading positions within defined risk parameters, ensuring compliance with internal policies and market regulations.
Build and manage strong relationships with clients, market participants, and internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities.
Monitor and assess market conditions, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors that may impact gas prices and trading strategies.
Mentor and guide junior traders, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
Qualifications Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
Proven experience in gas trading, with a focus on structured products and forward gas markets.
Strong understanding of European gas markets, including TTF, NBP, and other major hubs, as well as the regulatory landscape.
Expertise in pricing and structuring complex gas products, including swaps, forwards, and options.
Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar.
Experience in risk management and the ability to balance profitability with regulatory compliance.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.
