Job Description:
As part of a team of Science IT experts, you will be responsible for the administration and enhancement of all of the centralized Scientific IT high-performance computing infrastructure at the University of Zurich.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Administration and monitoring of the private OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure and the provided services.
* Contributing to a continuous optimization of the existing installation.
* Working on the development and deployment of new systems and services to support research.
* Assisting researchers with their technical challenges on a regular basis.
You will have the opportunity to learn or expand your knowledge in technologies such as cloud computing, parallel and distributed file systems (like CEPH), batch queue systems, advanced networking, as well as Python programming.
Your Profile:
We are looking for an individual with a strong background in Linux systems administration, including an understanding of Ethernet networking and TCP/IP. The ideal candidate is comfortable automating repetitive tasks using Bash or other scripting languages or tools. Experience with version control systems such as Git and automation tools like Ansible or Puppet is also desirable.
The successful candidate should be able to quickly identify potential problems and have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot. Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English are essential, as is a willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and assist researchers with their technical challenges.
