As the Energy Trading Analyst, you will have the exciting opportunity to work on automating tools with Python/VBA, building databases in Python, analyzing data, and creating dashboards in Tableau, all while diving deep into the world of natural gas, electricity, and crude oil markets.

In this influential position, you will take the lead in the analytics buildout of the desk, contributing to the trading strategies to mitigate risks and maximize returns. Your keen eye for detail, combined with a strategic mindset that sees the bigger picture, will enable data-driven trading executions.
Major Opportunities and Decisions:
You will assist the Energy trading desk in daily activities, analyze various markets, and support traders with automated tools and processes. You will build databases from scratch while learning the energy markets and how to analyze them from a senior trader.
Activities & Responsibilities:
Manage projects aimed at streamlining operations through automation and development of new tools to support trading desk activities.
Serve as a liaison between traders and various internal stakeholders such as the legal, middle office, accounting, and risk teams, acting as the first point of contact for issues and proactively resolving them.
Integrate new markets, contracts, and processes into the trading desk, managing administrative tasks and ensuring project completion.
Scrape data from various sources and maintain databases, analyzing large sets of data.
Develop trading models for natural gas, electricity, and crude oil under the guidance of the traders.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including exchanges and service providers.
Is this you?
Bachelor’s degree and preferably a relevant master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, or a similar field.
Recently graduated and looking for a career kick-start.
Strong Python programming skills required; VBA is a plus.
Ability to build databases from scratch and analyze large sets of data.
Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with others.
Strong learning ability with an interest in energy markets.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Strong inter-personal and inter-cultural skills.
Self-starter but also an effective team player in diverse team settings.
Ability to multitask and handle stress.
