NEXUS Personalized Health Technologies is a technology platform created to enable and accelerate translational research projects by providing technological resources, tools, and collaboration opportunities.
We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Specialist to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and services. Your responsibilities will include:
Core Responsibilities
* Setup and manage virtual machines within ETH Zurich's infrastructure, ensuring secure environments for sensitive and clinical data.
* Monitor, maintain, and improve the reliability of NEXUS services, primarily web applications running in containers on virtual machines.
* Configure authentication services for web applications, such as Keycloak with multiple identity providers.
* Evaluate and oversee data lifecycle management across storage systems, conducting annual reviews to align with project needs.
* Collaborate with ETH Zurich's central IT services and scientific IT services to ensure effective integration and reliable operations.
* Keep technical documentation up to date, including Confluence.
Coordinating Responsibilities
* Manage access rights to NEXUS resources, VPN accounts, and guest access.
* Establish and maintain IT infrastructure for the automation lab of NEXUS, including network and storage connectivity.
* Manage firewall rules, DNS assignments, IP reservations, and backups for NEXUS infrastructure.
Additional Responsibilities
* Maintain a container registry of bioinformatics-related images for computational pipelines.
* Evaluate and procure compute resources for High-Performance Computing platforms, managing access.
* Write automation scripts, such as Python, to facilitate recurring tasks.
Profile
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or Computer Science.
* Proven experience in systems and service management, particularly in secure and regulated environments.
* Strong understanding of IT concepts, including networking, storage, compute, and cloud computing.
* Familiarity with managing virtual machines, authentication systems, and centralized IT services.
* Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
* Fluent in English and German, both written and verbal.
Desirable
* Experience with data protection and secure environments for sensitive/clinical data.
* Knowledge of FAIR data and reproducible workflows.
