The Consolidation Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Group Controlling Planning & Analysis (CP&A) Managers in the consolidation and preparation of Monthly & Quarterly Management Reporting, Operating and Strategic Plan information, and various ad hoc tasks to support the Group Reporting Team’s annual objectives. Reporting to the Group Controlling Planning & Analysis Manager, this role will work closely with several Corporate Finance functions and with the Business Groups finance teams.
Key Job Accountabilities
Monthly Reporting
1. Responsible for monthly consolidation journals and group eliminations.
2. Monitor and review Group intercompany positions and balances. Follow up with Business Groups on any outstanding differences to ensure timely resolution.
3. Analyze and review Amcor step Plans and HE fixing applied (Strong APEX technical knowledge required).
4. Understand APEX releases changes to update QMC & BPR quarterly templates (APEX is an HFM application customized and unique to Amcor).
5. Prepare analysis of Group Income Statement by Segment / Business Group.
6. Prepare consolidated Group Significant Items/non-recurring costs report and analysis. Follow up with Business Groups for additional information and analysis as needed.
7. Review of Business Group monthly results and data submissions.
8. Maintain & continually improve Group reporting tools and templates.
Additional Quarter End Reporting Tasks
1. Closely liaise with Business Groups to ensure completed data is received on time.
2. Analysis and preparation of schedules for Investor Relations Team and for Group earnings release documents (Wdesk tool).
3. Quarter SOX control preparation, templates, processes and distributions to the Business Groups.
4. Prepare quarterly Group adjustment entity balance sheet reconciliations.
5. Liaise with external auditors to resolve queries where necessary or linked to responsible tasks.
Operating & Strategic Plans
1. Assist in the planning and coordination of the Operating Plan and Strategic Plan.
2. Prepare and assist the CP&A Managers with the Operating & Strategic Plans consolidation.
3. Review content and Business Group presentations.
4. Assist with the preparation of presentations to the Board of Directors.
5. Prepare ad hoc analysis for Group Management (FX impacts, Market analysis, Acquisition performance etc.).
Other
1. Provide analysis of financial data as required to group management.
2. Provide accounting support for designated Business Group.
3. Assist the HFM team with ad-hoc requirements.
4. Constantly challenge existing processes and contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies and plans with a view to enhancing the quality of Reporting and provide valuable analysis.
5. Lead and deliver on special projects, as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Bachelor’s (preferred Master’s) in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Technical knowledge of Amcor consolidation system necessary to perform internal eliminations.
3. Advanced APEX skills: Thorough understanding of the APEX hierarchy & customs, ability to run ad-hoc consolidation checks, understand Fallback & HE fixes.
4. 3-4+ years previous experience in audit, accounting or controlling a plus.
5. US GAAP knowledge a plus.
6. Big 4 experience is a plus.
7. Qualified or part qualified accountant with an interest in obtaining full accounting accreditation qualifications (e.g. ACCA, CPA, ACA or CMA).
8. Strong affinity with systems (HFM).
9. VBA skills beneficial or desire to learn.
10. Results orientated.
11. Willingness to learn.
12. Self-starter and someone who takes the initiative and strives for continuous improvement.
13. Takes responsibility for consistent and accurate delivery of workload.
