Director, Global Sustainability
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Global Sustainability leads Specialized’s sustainability vision, strategy and program execution. Working cross-functionally across the enterprise, a key focus of this role is to develop and scale solutions related to measuring, managing and lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Director also defines and coordinates Specialized’s net zero strategy and works cross-functionally to accelerate Specialized’s sustainability roadmap. A global change agent, the Director will create and integrate solutions to enable Specialized to lead suppliers and the industry in sustainability culture change.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
1. Set sustainability strategy and direction in partnership with leadership across the organization.
2. Build the foundational processes and infrastructure to drive transformation.
3. Lead a sustainability team that builds and implements programs that support short and long-term sustainability targets.
4. Consult with assemblers, suppliers, product teams and supply chain leadership to deliver actionable GHG emissions plans.
5. Develop and manage global sustainability-related supplier and industry organization partnerships.
6. Implement systems, practices and procedures that will enable measurement and reporting of sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders including the publication of an annual report.
7. Act as a consultant to support sustainability initiatives, working cross-functionally with product, marketing, sourcing and PR teams.
8. Influence cross-functionally to educate, prioritize, gain support and embed sustainability strategy into all areas of the organization.
9. Develop and mentor both direct and indirect reports to support and develop wider sustainability skillset; design, develop and implement training and awareness programs.
10. Monitor industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to develop a sustainability roadmap of programs/projects to meet sustainability targets.
11. Establish adherence to sustainability laws and regulations; assess risk management and enact internal policies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN
1. Bachelor’s degree, together with 10+ years of related experience in sustainability, climate, or energy leading transformations in a similar business environment.
2. 3+ years people leadership experience.
3. Ability to build effective internal and external partnerships, interacting and influencing successfully with diverse individuals at all levels.
4. Experience implementing sustainability initiatives and stakeholder reporting using relevant systems/technology.
5. Knowledge of science-based targets and environmental sustainability reporting frameworks.
6. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovatively, and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills.
7. Proven ability to lead transformational change and lead through influence.
8. Ability to travel internationally ~25%.
