Senior Project Coordinator for Mountain Research Initiative (MRI)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced all-rounder to join the MRI Coordination Office team as our Senior Project Coordinator, based in Bern, Switzerland.
About the Position
The successful candidate will coordinate, plan, manage, and execute a diverse portfolio of tasks for various projects and activities that are carried out for the network. This crucial role is responsible for liaising and coordinating with key stakeholders to promote the visibility of mountains and mountain research within scientific organizations, networks, and science–policy fora and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Executive Director in planning, coordination, management, and implementation of tasks related to MRI activities.
* Liaise and coordinate with the MRI Governing Body, Working Group leads, team members, network members, external project partners, and stakeholders.
* Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events such as workshops, webinars, seminars, research meetings, and conferences.
* Provide technical inputs and contribute to the production of publications and outputs resulting from MRI activities.
* Contribute to horizon-scanning by exploring and developing ideas around strategic priorities for the MRI.
* Maintain the MRI Experts Database and support reporting tasks.
* Collaborate with the Communications Manager to develop content for publications, newsletters, website, social media, and other outreach channels.
Requirements
* A Master's degree in Earth sciences or related fields with experience in research management or facilitating inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations.
* At least 3 years' experience in project management, including planning, coordinating, and facilitating scientific events and multi-stakeholder meetings.
* Experience engaging at the science–policy–practice interface and knowledge of relevant policy processes or research programmes is an advantage.
* Excellent intercultural communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Spoken and written proficiency in English is required, with knowledge of German and/or French being highly desirable.
