Project Manager – Climate Impact in the Pacific Alliance Region
Gold Standard is responsible for a number of externally funded initiatives and projects intending to build capacity amongst governments, the private sector and civil society to implement high-integrity climate action. As part of this, Gold Standard is implementing a multi-year programme assisting countries in the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru) on the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions, through dedicated support on issues related to monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV).
We are recruiting for a Programme Manager (6 month, maternity leave cover) to support the implementation of this programme.
The successful candidate can be based in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or UK working remotely or working hybrid from our head office in Geneva, Switzerland.
This is an exciting international role, that will involve close collaboration with government officials and other experts, a varied portfolio of work, and an opportunity to work internationally to deliver meaningful outcomes for climate security and sustainable development.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Developing annual workplans and budgets for the programme, in close collaboration with national representatives, delivery partners and the funding entity.
Ensuring that narrative and financial reports are submitted on time and following the funding entity guidelines.
Developing concepts for work outputs to deliver through the programme and securing approval from country representatives.
Ensuring the delivery of these work outputs, either by leading or managing work within Gold Standard or by sub-contractors.
Leading regular engagement with country representatives, delivery partners and the funding entity to ensure close alignment throughout the programme.
Overseeing work of the Programme Officer to manage procurement, budgets, agreements with sub-contractors and other issues that arise through the programme.
Representing Gold Standard publicly, for instance through presentations at workshops or public events or written articles and reports.
Developing innovative ideas to advance the work of the Pacific Alliance on MRV, and to maximise the impact achieved through the programme.
YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:
At least five years of recent experience in climate change policy or services, whether in the public, private or non-profit sector.
Good understanding of Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of greenhouse gas mitigation activities, with relevant academic qualifications desired.
At least one other recent experience of successfully managing delivery of a funded programme focused on environmental issues.
Experience working with government departments.
Excellent written and verbal English and Spanish communication skills.
Strong inter-personal and relationship management skills.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver outputs on time.
A team player who will productively and collaboratively engage with colleagues at different levels of seniority within and outside Gold Standard.
