Work Hours / Schedule: 6-9 hours / week; must commit to 2 days / week. The afterschool site runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday – Thursday.
Primary Purpose of Position: Work study students will be assisting in an afterschool program for elementary and middle school age children. At the program, work study students will tutor and mentor public school children with homework and community involvement activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with children in a wide range of recreational and educational activities (i.e., homework help, tutoring, sports, table games, arts and crafts, etc.)
Escort children to various activity locations within the program and community
Help children to cope with daily social interactions and learn appropriate social behaviors
Provide a safe, clean, and organized environment
Monitor, observe and report student behavior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Provide role-model behavior for students
Oversee and monitor students
Interact with individuals or small groups of students with tact and patience
Understand and relate to children
Education Requirements / Experience: No experience needed; interest in children required.
Additional Information: This position is located off-campus and transportation is required. Students are required to attend an orientation and training session at the start of each semester. Students are hired pending completion of all clearances.
