Building the new procurement capabilities through 2025, we’re seeking a Site Manager for Procurement.
The role
As the Site Manager for Procurement, you will oversee all procurement activities at the manufacturing site in Bern and the R&D site in Munich, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services while maintaining quality and compliance standards. This role acts as the primary interface to site leadership, leading a team of four procurement professionals, and driving performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement in alignment with global procurement strategies and relevant category managers. You will report to the Head of Global Procurement located at our Bern site.
You will develop and execute sourcing strategies to secure critical materials and services, ensuring production requirements are met. You will drive continuous improvement through effective supplier management while leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team that aligns with site objectives and procurement best practices. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement efficient procurement solutions and introduce innovative strategies to enhance cost efficiency and support site goals.
Other key responsibilities are
* Cost Efficiency & Innovation: Introduce innovative procurement strategies to support site goals
* Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities meet regulatory standards (GMP, FDA, EMA). Mitigate supply chain risks to ensure the continuity of critical materials
* Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on procurement KPIs (cost, quality, delivery timelines). Provide updates to the Head of Global Procurement and site leadership
Skills and requirements
* 5-7 years of experience in a senior procurement role, preferably in pharmaceutical or vaccine manufacturing
* Familiarity with regulatory environments (e.g., GMP, FDA, EMA)
* Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related fields
* Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) preferred
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
* Proficiency in procurement systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Medius)
* Strong change management skills with a track record of implementing improvements
* Deep expertise in sourcing and procurement practices (e.g., procure-to-pay, strategic sourcing, RFx processes, should-cost models)
* Proficiency in German and English
