The Engineering and Facilities Manager will manage the Technical Support and Engineering teams who will provide technical expertise for all Rockland's processes and products. Responsible for the deployment of engineering and maintenance assets in the organization to support organizational goals and improvements to operational effectiveness, efficiency, and new product development efforts. He/She will provide leadership and development to direct reports in support of improving skills and contributions to organizational goals. He/She will also manage all aspects of Engineering, including facility operating systems and maintenance requirements, and lead facility maintenance personnel and contractors.
Key responsibilities:
1. Work closely with R&D in the development of new products to ensure the high manufacturability of new products and processes.
2. Ensure that the manufacturing processes are well-supported and troubleshooting resources are deployed effectively.
3. Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance processes are in place to support maximum uptime and availability of manufacturing equipment.
4. Ensure all equipment is in compliance with safety regulations.
5. Involvement in offsite agarose production maintenance and changes to equipment.
6. Ensure all facility systems are functioning and properly maintained.
7. Responsible for all facility maintenance contracts and oversight of contractor operations and safety.
8. Provide oversight to facility preventative maintenance, calibration, and record keeping.
9. Ensure facility purchasing is continually seeking to optimize service, minimize expense, and inventory in these areas.
10. Manage and oversee spending at the site; strive for high asset utilization and optimize capital vs. expense tradeoffs to improve profitability.
11. Develop short-term and long-term capital expenditure needs for Rockland facility.
12. Oversight of project planning for each discreet CAPEX spend.
13. Provide leadership to facility maintenance personnel.
14. Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, cost savings, or program enhancements where appropriate.
15. Take an active and leadership role in communicating business goals, mission, and strategy to staff as part of the Rockland Leadership Team.
16. Develop and manage annual budgets in areas of responsibility.
17. Review resource requirements, adjust manning levels, and develop personnel according to the needs of the business.
Key requirements:
1. Bachelor’s level degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering.
2. 5+ years Engineering experience; biotech, pharma, or related industry, discrete manufacturing and chemical process related preferred.
3. Project management skills and experience.
4. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards or similar quality systems required.
5. Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA requirements.
6. Strong leadership and facilitation skills.
7. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, foster teamwork and collaboration.
8. Motivate & Develop people.
9. Strong procurement and contract negotiation skills.
10. Strong commitment to quality.
11. Self-motivated and responsible, with a strong work ethic.
12. Demonstrated time/priority management skills.
13. Excellent knowledge of computer systems relevant to business.
