Description The Head of Development Mechanics leads and manages the mechanical design teams within the Development department, driving innovation and excellence in the development of new products and technologies and maintaining the existing product portfolio in the Mechanical Design aspects. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical design, from concept through to production, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and cost targets. What You'll Do You are responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing our multi-site teams of mechanical design engineers and related functions in Hinwil (Switzerland), Danbury (U.S.), and Dresden (Germany). You will ensure that proper skills, methods and tools are in place in the team across all locations to comply with the projects needs. You oversee the design and industrialization of mechanical system elements, components, and assemblies. Additionally, your tasks include ensuring designs meet functional, performance, reliability, and industrialization requirements. You will make sure execution will happen with highest effectiveness and efficiency. You will also collaborate with other domains in- and outside of R&D (e.g. Electronics, Architecture, Requirements Engineering, Purchasing) and external suppliers to ensure integrated product development and smooth industrialization. You are tasked with managing the mechanical design domain from concept to production, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery. This includes ensuring the projects' staffing (skills and bandwidth), in close cooperation with project management. You are expected to drive innovation and continuous improvement in all aspects relevant to our mechanical design domain. Finally, your role includes evaluating and selecting new materials, components, and manufacturing processes. Who You Are You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field, combined with at least 10 years of experience in mechanical design, focusing on product development and industrialization, preferably in industrial applications. To succeed in this position, you should have at least 5 years experience leading teams, strong communication skills in English and German, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire and guide teams to their full potential. Furthermore, you can demonstrate proven problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills, with a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and technical supplier management. You also have a proven track record of managing and implementing change. Your experience includes extensive use of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS).
