What you'll be doing here
1. As member of the KOBO team, you will calibrate spectral data (vis, NIR, MIR, XRF, ...) to predict soil properties, using statistical and mathematical algorithms in R.
2. Develop and implement laboratory protocols for the spectroscopic measurements of soil properties for quality assurance (including repeated measurements and anomalies).
3. Develop a national soil spectral library.
4. Research, select and procure new laboratory equipment for a spectroscopic measuring station (vis, NIR, MIR, XRF, ...).
5. Develop and implement statistical and mathematical methods to analyse and assess spectral data of soil samples for outliers, anomalies and inconsistencies.
6. Develop and implement interfaces for automated and integrated data management via databases.
7. Develop automation concepts for the efficient measurement of soil samples with several instruments (vis, MIR, XRF, ...), and implement them in the laboratory.
8. Professional exchange with cantonal authorities, research institutions and the private sector.
What you'll bring with you
1. Degree in natural sciences, preferably in the fields of geography, environmental sciences or similar subject areas.
2. Good knowledge in the evaluation and calibration of spectroscopic data (especially MIR) with suitable statistical-mathematical methods.
3. Very good knowledge of R software, good knowledge of programming languages, experience in the design and configuration of databases.
4. Committed and responsible personality with communication skills and a confident appearance, planning and organizational skills.
5. Language skills: Good command of English, knowledge of German or French.
To start with, here are some of our strong points
1. Great freedom in work organisation with lots of leeway for your ideas, your creativity and decisiveness.
