Research Opportunity:
The Machine Learning in Visual Computing Group at ZHAW, Zurich University of Applied Sciences, invites applications for a fully funded PhD study position as part of the IMMERSE project.
This PhD project focuses on integrating and applying generative AI within virtual environments to develop efficient methods for creating digital content using AI. The research aims to seamlessly incorporate this content into real-world settings to enable immersive training scenarios, enhancing both individual and team-based training and education experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop innovative methods in XR and AI through research.
2. Design experiments and analyze data.
3. Identify limitations in the current state-of-the-art and propose creative solutions.
4. Publish findings in leading conferences and journals within the field.
5. Collaborate with your supervisor to develop a multi-year research plan during the first six months.
6. Assist teaching for 1-2 courses per year.
Requirements:
You hold an MSc in Computer Science with excellent results. Your academic background demonstrates expertise in computer vision, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. You have strong programming skills and hands-on experience with XR technologies, cameras, and 3D engines such as Unreal or Unity.
