Job Description
As a Specialist – Sales, you will work within the Global Sales Operations Team (GSO) and be responsible for managing activities and processes to ensure the Sales organization runs effectively, efficiently, and in support of business objectives. You will work with assigned Outside Sales Representatives, Inside Sales, support functions, suppliers, centers of excellence (COE), and Marketing to ensure a steady flow of meaningful sales interactions, resulting in an expansion of outside sales capacity. You will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement in the sales process.
The Global Sales Operations Team (GSO) is a fast-paced team responsible for leveraging Anixter’s capabilities in support of global accounts and large, complex opportunities while providing clear, consistent processes and best practices across all geographies. This team provides the framework for effective communication, engagement, documentation, and visibility among shared resources and sales teams globally.
Responsibilities:
1. Increases sales process efficiency by working with various internal departments to develop a backlog of selling opportunities for assigned Outside Sales Representatives.
2. Schedules sales calls and deploys Field Technical Specialists (i.e., lighting, gear, automation, MRO specialists).
3. Debriefs salespeople and technical specialists after customer visits, updating the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and managing follow-up communication to internal and external customers.
4. Co-develops pricing strategy with management and outside sales, ensuring pricing agreements are made, loaded, etc., and are consistent with margin improvement expectations.
5. Leads post-sale projects and interacts with Inside Sales, suppliers, COE, and customers to ensure timely and accurate execution of complex projects.
6. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings to measure progress of set objectives.
7. May be designated as a subject-matter expert (SME) for critical customers.
8. Assists with distributing workload among the inside sales team in larger and/or complex operations.
Qualifications:
1. 2+ years of experience in inside or outside sales, project, business development, or operations management.
2. Understanding and research of vertical market conditions, challenges, and directions.
3. Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
4. Ability to multi-task.
5. Ability to prospect and market concepts to new and existing customers.
6. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, team environment.
7. Ability to negotiate inventory strategies and contractual opportunities.
8. Knowledge of the value of inventory and total cost of ownership.
9. Proficient in managing and creating sales analysis, setting goals, and developing and driving results-oriented activities.
10. Ability to prepare for emerging customer needs.
