As an experienced Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the operation, maintenance, consolidation, and extension of CERN's complex electrical transmission and distribution network.
Job Description
You will join the Electrical Engineering team in the EN department, working within the Design and Documentation Office (DDO) section. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Leading the design for large electrical projects, encompassing low and high voltage distribution networks, lighting systems, DC and UPS distribution systems, and earthing networks.
* Creating and updating design drawings using BricsCAD/AutoCAD.
* Developing cabling schedules and installation drawings.
* Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, safety rules, quality requirements, and general CERN requirements.
* Providing ongoing support to the Group by updating and improving quality standards.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in leading electrical design projects, including HV and LV distribution systems.
* Expertise in short circuit calculations, load flow analysis, distribution system design, and electrical circuit design.
* Familiarity with designing and selecting electrical distribution equipment, such as switchgear, switchboards, protection relays, transformers, UPS systems, generators, battery chargers, and inverters.
* Ability to supervise draughtsman and junior engineers.
* Proficiency in producing design documents using CAD software (BricsCAD/AutoCAD).
* Experience with EPLAN electric P8 would be an asset.
* Skills in designing and modeling high-voltage and low-voltage electrical circuits and networks using BricsCAD, Dialux, and Eleccalc.
* Strong self-management skills, autonomy, and ability to take initiative.
