About the team you are joining
IATA's Sustainability and Economics division works with airlines, regulators, and civil society to develop and implement policies, standards, and solutions that support the sustainable development of air transport and mitigate its impact on the environment. You will join the Net Zero Transition team, which is responsible for advocating for all climate change-related solutions for aviation and ensuring the right options are available to airlines to support their transition plans. One of our main focus areas is to support the ramp-up of sustainable aviation fuels. We are committed to delivering solutions to support SAF development across regions, leveraging the diversity of feedstocks best suited for aviation, without compromising other decarbonization priorities. This requires a holistic approach working with the supply chain, technology solution providers, as well as with governments and financial institutions.
What your day would be like
You will report to the Head, Net Zero Transition Programs, and your standard day could consist of the following technical, research, project management, and stakeholder relations/advocacy activities:
• Collect, maintain, and analyze data regarding SAF developments across the globe.
• Support the research and development of a SAF database center through deeper technology dives.
• Support IATA campaigns to accelerate the commercial deployment of SAF.
• Support the development of guidance material for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support IATA events (content and administration) regarding SAF topics.
• Coordinate, manage, and contribute to industry communication calls or events.
• Support the development of team materials for presentations (internal and external) and internal and external capacity-building workshops.
• Provide reliable and timely input and advice for member airlines’ queries and requests for information.
• Support the team with research and position papers for technical meetings, consultations, and industry events.
Most of your work program will be structured, although at times ad-hoc subject matter support will be required.
We would love to hear from you if
• 3-5 years of experience and a university degree preferably in a science/engineering discipline supporting your contribution to the team.
• A working understanding of fuels, policy, and SAF in any of the following areas: technical, sustainability, commercial, or policy.
• A strong interest in analysis and using research to develop positions and solutions to complex problems.
• Experience in an international environment, especially engaging with UN agencies, EU Institutions, international organizations, and NGOs would be an advantage. An understanding of international relations, politics, advocacy, and member interests would be positive.
• Your written and spoken English is excellent and you have strong communication skills, with any additional languages being a strong asset.
• You can work on multiple tasks with fixed deadlines and changing priorities.
• Good stakeholder management skills and collaborate well with people in a multi-cultural environment.
