The Robot Learning and Interaction group is always open to speculative applications for the following positions: postdocs, Ph D, and internship. There is no specific deadline; applications can be submitted at any time. In addition to the usual CV, we strongly encourage applicants to clearly identify how they could contribute to our activities. Applications providing a clear research plan (one page maximum) are also very much encouraged and will be given full attention. For Ph D's Appointments as a Ph D student are typically for 4 years, conditional to successful progress, and should lead to a Ph D dissertation, granted by the “Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)”. A Ph D first year annual gross salary starts at 47’040.- CHF. Working at Idiap in Martigny, the successful candidate will become a doctoral student at EPFL or UNIL, and thus also has to be accepted for enrolment there before joining Idiap. Candidates should hold a master degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or applied mathematics. They should also demonstrate a strong background in statistics, linear algebra, C/C++ programming, Perl and/or Python scripting languages, and Linux environment. For postdocs Postdoc appointments are typically for one year, with possibilities of renewal for a maximum of 4 years, conditional to performance. A postdoc first year annual gross salary starts at 80’000.- CHF. Candidates should hold a Ph D degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or applied mathematics. They should also demonstrate excellent research experience in their field, a strong publication record (comparing well with peers of the same seniority level), and the ability to do creative and significant research with a relative level of autonomy. For internships Our internships usually last a few months and are paid. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong background in statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, C/C++ programming, Perl and/or Python scripting languages, and Linux environment.
