The University of St.Gallen is strengthening its degree programs in Computer Science with a new Associate Professorship in the field of Computer Vision. We seek an individual who will direct the creation of a new research group in this context while actively contributing to the further development of the School of Computer Science and building bridges with other disciplines at our university.
Successful candidates have a strong research track record in their field and an international recognition in one or several of the topics of the call. They bring sufficient academic maturity and independence, where a track record in industry collaboration as well as in third-party funding is desired. Enthusiasm for teaching and the development of new courses and our curricula is expected to further shape the Computer Science programs at the University of St.Gallen.
The university is searching for candidates with a strong research background in one or more of the following topics:
Image and Video Analysis
Multi-Modal Approaches and Models
3D Computer Vision
Object Recognition and Tracking

With respect to research, the successful candidate leads cutting-edge research endeavours across various aspects of computer vision and visual perception in a coordinated research portfolio and group. The successful candidate additionally has a track record in applications of computer vision. With respect to teaching, the successful candidate designs and holds courses in the field of computer vision on the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels; their expertise hence is required to cover traditional computer vision methods as well as highly current approaches. The candidate is an active and visible member of the faculty and engages in outreach activities and academic citizenship within the University and globally.
We are looking for a team-oriented and committed personality whose research activities offer links to the other research groups at the School of Computer Science, and to institutes and schools across the other research fields that are represented at the University of St.Gallen.
