Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in animal research, animal facility operations and animal welfare. They will support the FMI Animal Welfare Officer and be able to start as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with animal caretakers on daily husbandry tasks, including ordering, repairs, treatments and documentation.
2. Manage ordering processes and coordinate maintenance of Animal Facility equipment.
3. Oversee the sentinel program and assist in organizing internal trainings and meetings.
4. Administer various databases, such as the Federal animex-ch and internal records.
5. Support the development and maintenance of the Animal Facility database (PyRAT).
6. Assist the Biosafety Officer in managing BL2 laboratories.
7. Provide ad hoc support to the Head of Animal Facility and the Animal Welfare and Biosafety Officer.
About You:
* You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* You have hands-on experience in Animal Work and have completed the LTK module 1 or an equivalent qualification.
* You have expertise in animal care and welfare.
* You are reliable, with a strong work ethic and high self-motivation.
* You are resourceful, self-organized and adaptable in problem-solving, with collaboration and inclusivity skills.
* You communicate clearly and effectively in English, with basic proficiency in German.
