Behavior Classroom Aide 25-26 School Year
Hallsville School District is accepting applications for the position of Behavior Classroom Aide for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a 10-month position with benefits. Qualified applicants will have the ability to obtain or hold a valid substitute teaching certification.
Job Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the building leadership to implement individualized behavior plans and instructional strategies for students with behavioral challenges.
* Provide students with one-on-one or small group support to reinforce positive behavior.
* Implement behavior management techniques and interventions for student behavior plans, including de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention when necessary.
* Maintain accurate records of student behavior and/or academic progress, including tracking incidents, interventions used, and outcomes to inform decision-making and adjust strategies as needed.
* Create a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning, including setting up and organizing materials, and implementing routines and procedures.
* Communicate regularly with the building leadership, other staff members, and parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and strategies being implemented.
* Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in behavior management techniques, special education practices, and relevant policies and procedures.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including monitoring behavior during transitions, recess, and other non-instructional times.
* Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher, including assistive technology.
* Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
* Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
* Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
* Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
* Participate in in-service training programs, as assigned.
* Attend CPI certification training and obtain certification.
* May be assigned a daily am/pm bus route as a ride-along aide on the bus.
* Support the implementation of PBIS strategies to promote positive behavior and a safe, respectful learning environment for students.
* Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Hallsville R-IV Public School District.
* Provide one-on-one or small group academic interventions as assigned by the administrative team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond. The employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as to lift files, papers, and equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential duties of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate level with frequent interruptions. The employee continuously interacts with staff and the public.
