The HR Director plays a pivotal role in the Onboard HR Team, serving as a strategic business partner to the Master of the Vessel and management team. This individual champions company values and their effective implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborates with senior leaders, both on ship and shore, to identify personnel needs and develop tailored solutions that support the vessel's evolving business requirements, aligned with company values.
2. Works closely with the Crew Office to ensure timely and accurate implementation of processes and procedures, including policy updates, internal mobility programs, contract modifications, leave policies, resignations, and employee engagement initiatives.
3. Serves as a neutral advisor to the Master/Staff Captain/Chief Security/HoDs, fostering a safe work environment and consistent disciplinary actions. Investigates incidents related to these individuals, adhering to the Shipboard Conduct Rule, and keeps the Staff Captain and shoreside representatives informed accordingly.
4. In collaboration with the Staff Captain, investigates crew-related incidents and participates in disciplinary actions.
5. Is responsible for ensuring the correct implementation of performance management processes and addresses any concerns as needed.
6. Maintains oversight of shipboard operations to guarantee compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, Global HESS, MLC 2006, and other relevant regulations; promptly reports any deficiencies to the Master and Shoreside HR Team as necessary.
7. E nsures Learning & Development activities are organized and delivered in accordance with Corporate HR guidelines and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Human Resources Management/Development, Psychology, or Business Administration, with CIPD certification (optional).
2. Five years of experience in a similar role, managing large multinational teams. Previous experience in the cruise industry is a significant advantage.
3. Proven track record of managing complex employee relations cases and change management programs.
4. Ability to build professional relationships, establish credibility quickly, and provide authoritative advice on workforce issues, demonstrating advanced influencing/negotiating/presentation skills.
5. Extensive knowledge of maritime industry regulations, laws, and MLC 2006.
6. Familiarity with MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
7. Fluent in English (C1 level) and proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
