You will join the Department (SY), which is responsible for the beam-related technical systems of the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design, build and operate equipment systems in all CERN accelerators, and are engaged in ambitious forward-looking R&D programmes. The position will be in the of the.
As an electronics technician, you will:
1. Participate in the test and measurement of tunnel and surface based modules in the various CERN accelerators including the large hadron collider (LHC);
2. Design test benches comprising laboratory instrumentation and custom electronics;
3. Design and layout printed circuit boards;
4. Use advanced instruments such as high-end oscilloscopes, VNAs, logic analysers;
5. Develop python scripts for the control of laboratory instruments and test benches.
Qualifications
Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of electronics or a related field.
Experience:
Required experience with:
6. Hands-on experience in soldering of SMD components;
7. Hands-on experience with the use of laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies;
8. Reading electronic schematics;
9. Fault identification in electronic circuits.
Desired experience with:
10. Knowledge of CAD software such as Altium or KiCad;
11. Knowledge of Python;
Technical competencies:
12. Testing and measurement of analog and digital electronic circuits;
13. Design and simulation of analog and digital electronic circuits;
14. Layout of electronic circuit boards;
15. Design and development of systems based on standardized modules;
16. Knowledge and application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
