JOB PURPOSE
The HR Director is responsible for leading the Onboard HR Team and serving as the onboard HR business partner, providing sound advice to senior leaders. The role champions company values and their effective application.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Collaborate with senior leaders to diagnose people requirements and develop solutions that support the business needs, guided by company values.
• Work closely with the Crew Office to implement processes & procedures, including policies, internal mobility, contract changes, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Partner with Masters/Staff Captains/HoDs to create a safe work environment and ensure consistent disciplinary actions. Lead investigations and provide neutral advice.
• Investigate crew-related issues and participate in disciplinary actions, working closely with the Staff Captain and shoreside representatives.
• Oversee the performance management process and address concerns as needed.
• Monitor shipboard operations to ensure compliance with HR Policies, Global HESS, MLC 2006, and other relevant regulations. Report any deficiencies to the Master and Shoreside HR Team.
• Ensure Learning & Development activities are organized and delivered in line with Corporate HR guidelines and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
• MA in HRM/HRD or Psychology or Business Administration and/or CIPD qualification.
• 5 years of experience in a similar role, managing hundreds of employees in a multinational context. Previous experience in the cruise industry is an advantage.
• Proven experience in managing complex employee relations cases and change management programs.
• Develop professional relationships and establish credibility quickly, providing authoritative advice on workforce issues and demonstrating influencing/negotiating/presentation skills.
• Extensive knowledge of maritime industry regulations, laws, and MLC 2006.
• Proficient in MS Office, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint.
• Fluent in English (C1 level) and additional languages are an asset.
