Job Description:
Introduction
Within the Engineering Department (EN-EL), you will join the Electrical Project Management Section (EPM), responsible for managing projects related to the consolidation and upgrade of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution network.
Functions
* Supervise onsite works for projects consolidating and extending the existing electrical network, coordinating with non-electrical activities such as civil engineering, transport, cooling and ventilation, and IT systems carried out by other groups at CERN.
* Ensure the safety of activities at the worksites of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and requirements.
* Contribute to the design of electrical systems.
* Supervise and coordinate contractors performing onsite works, prepare and carry out acceptance tests, check contractors’ documentation, and validate quality and quantities prior to final payment.
* Coordinate and perform installation, testing, and commissioning activities on electrical equipment.
* Organize and execute smaller electrical works, from needs definition, design, cost estimate, procurement to onsite installation and handover to operation and maintenance teams.
* Take part in the regular standby duty for troubleshooting on the electrical network.
Qualifications
Technical certificate or general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
* Proven experience in site supervision of large electrical projects such as electrical substations or industrial installations, in both high and low voltage.
* Proven experience in organization and coordination of electrical works, including preparation and verification of technical folders, supervision of works, and acceptance of electrical installations.
* Proven experience in execution of electrical works.
* Good theoretical knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems and networks.
* Installation, testing, and commissioning of high and low voltage electrical systems and networks.
* Construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical circuits and networks.
* Organization, planning, and control, including supervision of work.
* Commissioning, maintenance, and operation of electrical circuits and networks.
* Technical coordination of contractors.
* Working in Teams: Building and maintaining constructive and effective work relationships.
* Managing Self: Working well autonomously; taking on activities and tasks without prompting.
* Communicating Effectively: Ensuring that information, procedures, and decisions are appropriately documented.
* Achieving Results: Driving work/projects along and seeing them through to conclusion.
* Demonstrating Flexibility: Willingness to accept changing circumstances; supporting initiatives for change.
Spoken and written English: ability to understand and speak in professional contexts (level B1 min). Willingness to learn and improve French (mandatory).
