Mechanical Design Engineer Position at CERN
CERN is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Handling Engineering Group.
The successful candidate will work on various handling issues and requests in the CERN accelerator complex, supporting physicists in moving their equipment into place.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise transport and handling aspects of the High Luminosity LHC project
* Create 3D models of environments and handling operations using CATIA
* Develop tailor-made solutions for handling and transport problems
* Design and define handling tooling
* Follow up suppliers during manufacturing phase and implement proposed tooling with handling teams
This is an onsite position requiring frequent work in Radiation Areas, underground installations, and occasional night shifts.
Requirements:
* Proficient knowledge of 3D drafting software (CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor)
* Ability to prepare mechanical calculation notes
* Fluent English; proficiency in French is an advantage
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field within two years of graduation
