Role Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Procurement Manager to support our procurement team in managing ocean freight operations. You will assist with supplier negotiations, analyze market trends, and help optimize procurement processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for logistics to grow their career in an international environment.
This role can be pursued either from our Zurich office or our headquarters in Wollerau.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the Procurement team in sourcing and negotiating with shipping lines, freight forwarders and partners.
2. Conduct detailed market research on freight rates, capacity availability, and industry trends to support decision-making.
3. Assist in consolidating import/export demand plans across different business units.
4. Monitor and report on key procurement metrics, such as cost-saving initiatives, service levels, and supplier performance.
5. Maintain and update procurement databases, contracts, and documentation.
6. Prepare reports and presentations on freight, market trends and procurement activities for internal stakeholders.
7. Assist in the renewal process of service contracts and maintain accurate records of contract terms and expiry dates.
Requirements:
1. 1-3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics (experience in ocean freight is a plus).
2. Understanding of shipping processes, Incoterms, and basic freight documentation.
3. Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize data.
4. Proficiency in MS Excel and working with procurement systems or databases.
5. Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
6. Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have:
1. Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, or BCOs.
2. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
3. Familiarity with port operations, customs clearance processes, and import/export documentation.
4. German language skills.
