RCP Management is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. RCP offers an excellent opportunity with a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience. The senior staff accountant will be responsible for handling and maintaining monthly financial production for a specifically assigned number of Associations. This includes but is not limited to accurately maintaining financial records of assigned Associations, producing monthly reports, booking journal entries, requesting transfers, updating/maintaining bank forms, and working cooperatively with the Association’s CPA for annual audit and tax purposes.
Responsibilities
* Distinguish between Operating, Deferred Maintenance, and Capital Reserve items when preparing financials.
* Determine if an item is a current month expense, prepaid, or to be deferred to a future month.
* Work cooperatively with bookkeepers, managers, support staff, and board/committee members to assist with and explain financial inquiries/concerns.
* Perform a Quality Control review of financials prepared by others for a portfolio of communities.
* Assist the Controller with continuing education of accounting staff.
* Assist with the development and ongoing review of internal controls and other accounting procedures.
* Provide training for newly hired Staff Accountants.
* Effectively and efficiently prepare financial statements that are free from error and consistent on a month-to-month basis.
* Meet deadlines and ensure that all financials are completed by the 25th of the month – or as required by the client contract.
* Assist an outside auditing firm during the annual audit.
* Attend Client meetings with the Board/Finance Committee as needed or if specified in the management agreement.
Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
* Proven accounting experience is required, with accounting experience in property management preferred.
* Fund accounting experience required.
* Strong communication and attention to detail.
