Our team at Lonza AG in Visp, Switzerland is growing! We are looking for a Team leader (all genders) Quality Control to build a team of Scientists in our newly formed QC 24/7 Enabling Team. This role is crucial for seamless support in our 24/7 analytical operations.

Key responsibilities: Lead and Develop the Team: Manage and mentor a team of ca 6-8 Scientists. Build the newly formed team, merging the Training and Sample Management functions to operate effectively and cohesively. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, emphasizing continuous improvement.
Support QC Analytical Operations: Coordinate training programs for shift team analysts, collaborating with the technology labs (HPLC, Bio-analytics, Phys Chem, Microbiology) to ensure high-quality, consistent training. Manage reserve and retain sample workflows, ensuring accurate handling and documentation. Provide timely support for investigations and deviations, ensuring detailed analysis and resolution.
Project Management: Lead multi-disciplinary matrix teams on complex projects in the responsible area, facilitating problem solving and lessons learned activities. Drive improvements to departmental business processes and contribute to the implementation of innovative technologies. Establish and embrace a lean approach, ensuring continuous improvement initiatives are implemented in line with the plan.
Collaborator Management: Act as the main contact for collaborators both within and outside the organization, ensuring alignment with operational goals. Collaborate with shift team leads to enable smooth and efficient delivery of time-critical analyses and sample aliquotation from all manufacturing facilities.
Key requirements: MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field with equivalent experience.
Solid work experience in the GMP controlled pharmaceutical/biotech industry is a prerequisite.
Proven leadership experience is required.
Outstanding collaborator management capabilities, with an approachable and reassuring personality.
The necessary assertiveness to push back on external requests if needed.
Fluency in English as well as very good German language skills.
