Job Opportunity: Postdoc on Agroecology and Soil Health in European Living Labs
Location and Workload:
Zürich, 80% workload
Your Contribution:
1. Investigate soil health and ecosystem functions within European living labs.
2. Test participatory tools for soil health assessments with farmers, evaluating their effectiveness in reflecting changes in soil health and its relation to ecosystem functioning.
3. Assess the multi-dimensional performance of agroecological systems using the Faoutool TAPE.
4. Collaborate with farmers to develop best practices.
5. Pilot a circular resource recycling strategy with farmers, retailers, and consumers to recycle food and other organic waste, supporting crop production and soil health.
6. Manage projects and participate in international consortium meetings.
Your Qualifications:
1. PhD in soil science, agronomy, ecology, botany, microbial ecology, or related fields.
2. Experience in analyzing soils' chemical, physical, or biological properties.
3. Experience interacting with farmers, composting, microbial community analyses, or assessing the multi-dimensional (environmental, social, economic) performance of agroecological systems is advantageous.
4. Good statistical skills, ideally using R.
5. A well-structured and organized working style, along with good communication skills.
6. Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English.
