The Kofi Annan Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organization, established in Geneva, Switzerland in 2007 by former UN (United Nations) Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the late Kofi Annan. Its mission is to build peaceful, democratic, and resilient societies, through its three main programmes: Youth and Peace; Elections and Democracy; and Multilateralism: the Kofi Annan way.
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications and the overall supervision of the Executive Director, the Communications Associate will support the Kofi Annan Foundation’s communication, outreach, and advocacy activities, including online and in-person events.
The Communications Associate will undertake the following:
* Support the Head of Communications in their work related to managing and updating the Kofi Annan Foundation’s website and its social media accounts, as well as drafting, formatting, and disseminating newsletters, the annual report, and other publications.
* Assist the Head of Communications in the timely and quality production of advocacy and branding content and material including visuals, written content, and audiovisual material; as well as in the drafting of articles and other compelling communication material to be widely disseminated.
* Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication materials and advocacy events/campaigns to target audiences, as well as the reach of the Foundation on social media platforms and visits to the website and produces regular analytic reports in this regard.
* Support the Kofi Annan Foundation in the organization of online and in-person public events to promote strategic goals. This includes liaising with speakers, providing support on branding and communication for all events, under the supervision of the Head of Communications and in collaboration with programme staff.
* Alongside the Head of Communications, maintain an updated calendar of events and communication activities for the year to plan communication activities effectively and efficiently.
* Liaise with external partners and stakeholders.
* Plus, as needed, the Communications Associate will be expected to:
o Take meeting notes and share the follow-up items with relevant staff members and external partners as instructed.
o Assist with the preparation of speeches, talking points, correspondence, and other written outputs.
o Undertake official mission travel, training and related tasks as required by the Head of Communications and Executive Director
Requirements for the role:
* Excellent written and spoken English and French required.
* Advanced university degree in communications, marketing, journalism, design, international relations or a related field.
* Experience in a non-governmental or international organization is an advantage.
* Experience of website CMS, email marketing management (such as Mailchimp) and social media accounts management is a distinct advantage.
* Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva is an advantage.

* Associate positions are offered to young people who have recently completed an advanced (Masters) university degree and want to acquire a first international full professional experience. Associates are normally recruited for 6 to 12 months, and there is no expectation of renewal beyond one year. The selected candidate will be offered an initial 6-month full-time contract, with the possibility of renewal for a further 6 months.
* The position is remunerated at the level of the minimum wage in effect in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, and is subject to Swiss social charges and is taxable under Swiss/Geneva law.
* The Kofi Annan Foundation is an inclusive employer and depending on personal circumstances and work exigencies, the staff is offered flexible working arrangements.
* The selected candidate would be expected to take up the position in August/September 2024.
