Job Description
Purpose:
The Senior Finance Manager has direct and full responsibility for financial performance activities related to key third-party manufacturing partners supporting Conjugation and Aseptic Fill manufacturing. This role requires extensive interfacing and coordination with all levels of management across various functions. The position is expected to identify cost-saving opportunities and assist in managing the organization to achieve optimal financial performance. Additionally, the Senior Finance Manager must ensure that the financial activities of Conjugation and Aseptic Fill manufacturing are conducted in accordance with divisional and corporate guidelines, complying with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as local fiscal and governing laws and regulations. The individual should possess strong analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop financial plans and operating forecasts, including annual plans and updates, long-range plans (LRPs), latest best estimates (LBEs), ensuring they are accurate, well-written, and professionally presented for senior management.
2. Oversee standard cost development and reporting to the Transfer Pricing Group; responsible for monitoring deferred margin transactions and acting as a liaison with Operations and Corporate.
3. Lead month-end close activities, conduct manufacturing variance analysis, and prepare monthly reporting schedules on third-party manufacturing (TPM) financial performance, including purchase price variance (PPV), spending, inventory, inventory exposures, and accrued liabilities. Ensure adherence to corporate and divisional due dates.
4. Interface directly with personnel in VLOG, External Manufacturing, Puerto Rico, Lake County, and other AbbVie Sites to meet all financial reporting requirements promptly. Provide accurate and insightful analysis to equip senior management with necessary information to address variances and develop corrective actions.
5. Collaborate with the Procurement organization to support contract negotiations and supply agreements with third-party manufacturers. Participate in third-party supplier business reviews and other externally focused meetings.
6. Monitor inventory levels, reserves, and balance sheet deferral accounts.
7. Provide leadership to finance team members in External Manufacturing, COE of Americas and VLOG, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations. Responsible for coaching and supervising a team of up to 3 financial analysts. In certain instances, a dotted-line reporting structure may be applicable.
8. Collaborate with Global Supply Planning, Corporate Taxes, and Transfer Pricing functions on product lifecycle management. This includes product flow design and analysis related to the divestiture and acquisition of third-party manufacturing (TPM) products.
9. Deliver budgetary support to external manufacturing management teams and effectively track spending for various TPM-related projects.
10. Work with AbbVie's internal manufacturing sites on insourcing and outsourcing decisions for AbbVie products by performing make-or-buy analyses. Assist the Controller or Finance Director in developing other ad hoc analyses.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification and/or MBA is desirable.
2. High level of interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of management and professionals within the company. Must possess high personal integrity, objectivity, and a tactful demeanor.
3. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a capacity to handle broad implications. Strong analytical and statistical skills, with the ability to interpret and provide broader context to converging information.
4. Experience with SAP, BPC, advanced Excel, data analysis tools, PowerPoint, and other Business Intelligence (BI) or Power Query tools.
5. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a constantly changing and challenging environment. Capability to work under pressure and adapt to changes. Strong short- and long-term planning and organizational skills.
6. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
7. Broad business perspective, able to provide advice and alternatives in financial and non-financial matters.
8. Strategic and critical thinking, serving as an instrument of change and challenging conventional thought.
9. Strong focus on customer service. Open and trustworthy communication skills with all levels of the organization.
10. Minimum combined years of experience: 6 - 8 years.
