The Role
In a global, cross-functional environment, the System Development (SD) department optimizes workflows and integrates hardware, software, consumables, and reagents to verify diagnostic instruments' performance.
As a Development Engineer, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop complex diagnostics systems in Nucleic Acid Purification, PCR, and Sequencing. You will conduct hands-on experiments, perform hardware and software testing, evaluating system performance, error handling, and reliability improvements.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Planning and executing work packages within your area of responsibility, including reporting and escalating issues to management.
* Serving as a subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility. Providing guidance and support to team members.
* Generating required documentation, procedures, and technical reports.
* Preparing and delivering presentations of project results to the team and management.
* Designing and executing experiments in biosafety levels S1 and S2 laboratories.
* Creating test cases based on product requirements. Executing test cases, analyzing results, and creating regulatory documents. Tracking issues and verifying bug fixes.
* Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing systems. Documenting and maintaining software functionality.
* Cordinating efforts with other functional areas to accomplish tasks: Hardware, Software, Consumables, and Assay-Development.
About You

The ideal candidate for our dynamic, international team will possess the following skills and experience:
* A degree in a relevant life science discipline (e.g., biology, biotechnology, biomedical informatics, engineering related to life sciences) or corresponding job experience.
* An interest in resolving technical problems and interdisciplinary teamwork.
* Experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and labs with biosafety levels S1 and 2.
* Familiarity with or strong interest in software and engineering applications and tools.
* An enthusiastic team player with good communication and collaboration skills. Solution-oriented, autonomous, and proactive working style.
* Proven experience in laboratory diagnostics and/or service & support, as well as supporting HW and SW, are additional assets.
* A working knowledge of English (written and spoken), and German a strong asset.
