At Adaptyv, our high-throughput cloud lab enables protein designers to experimentally validate their proteins with the click of a button. We're building advanced molecular biology workflows, assay automation and software infrastructure to make it easy for our users to engineer better proteins. Since the launch of our beta access in June 2024 we've been growing rapidly and are now working with the fastest-moving protein design teams in the world, across tech bio startups, major AI companies and the biggest pharmas.
About The Role
We are looking for a Scientific Project Manager to lead and coordinate molecular biology, protein engineering, and high-throughput research projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role sits at the intersection of science, operations, and execution, ensuring that research initiatives are well-planned, cost-effective, and efficiently executed. You will work closely with scientists, automation engineers, and external partners to manage timelines, optimize resources, and drive projects to completion.
Responsibilities
* Plan, manage, and execute scientific projects in molecular biology, protein engineering, and high-throughput workflows.
* Track project budgets and perform financial modeling, calculating experimental costs, forecasting resource needs, and optimizing spending.
* Manage supplier relationships, sourcing lab consumables, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring timely procurement of reagents and equipment.
* Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between research, automation, and data teams.
* Develop scalable workflows and processes to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and cost-effectiveness in research projects.
* Analyze and communicate project outcomes, preparing updates and reports for leadership and external partners.
* Identify risks and proactively solve problems, ensuring projects stay on track and adapt to challenges.
Qualifications
* MS or PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in scientific project management, preferably in a startup, biotech, or industry setting.
* Strong understanding of molecular biology, protein engineering, and high-throughput research workflows.
* Experience managing cross-functional scientific teams and orchestrating research projects from planning to execution.
* Financial modeling and cost analysis experience, with the ability to budget experiments, track expenditures, and optimize resource allocation.
* Excellent supplier and vendor management skills, ensuring efficient procurement and cost-effective purchasing.
* Proficiency in project management tools (Linear, Notion, etc.) and data analysis tools (Python, Excel). Experience in using AI tools to automate processes wherever possible.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and drive execution efficiently.
* Familiarity with lab automation, high-throughput screening, or AI-driven research is a plus.
