For our subsidiary Carrier Innovation Technologies, we are looking for a Energy Systems Lead (m/f/d) in the Kriens/Luzern region on a permanent basis and as soon as possible.
Role Responsibilities:
1. identifying and covering technology gaps for HVAC systems as a central element to integrated energy systems that include energy storage devices, close interaction with utilities and grid operators, EVs, and different assets within homes, commercial and light commercial buildings, industrial buildings, data centers, city/neighborhood/district energy networks.
2. The selected professional will work in close coordination with the global team with the objective to identify opportunities and technical gaps, provide the technology strategy and manage the tactical aspects of the portfolio.
3. In later stages the candidate will manage a team of researchers to either adapt existing Carrier technology to cover the identified needs and/or develop new technologies.
4. The focus of the work will be for the European market.
5. The selected candidate will work in close coordination with the global Breakthrough Technologies (BT) team, as part of Carrier Strategy and Innovation, and local business units.
6. Substantial availability travel required (up to 50%), mostly within Europe; but annual travel overseas is foreseen
Required Qualifications
7. Masters in Science and Engineering fields (e.g. electrical, computer science, mechanical).
8. 5+years of experience in technology strategy and technology development and /maturation in fields related to energy systems.
9. Demonstrated experience leading projects.
Preferred Qualifications
10. PhD in Science and Engineering fields (e.g. systems, computer science, mechanical).
11. Working knowledge of HVAC systems, specifically heat-pumps systems for residential, commercial, district applications.
12. Experience in modeling and simulation energy systems to include HVAC (residential, commercial district applications) and energy storage components, at working and leading levels.
13. Experience in systems integration, in particular integrating batteries and thermal storage in largest systems.
14. Knowledge of European utilities networks and virtual power plants (VPP) models.
15. Technical Knowledge of district energy systems, operations and sustainable opportunities.
16. Experience with design, technology development processes towards new product development, to include system engineering elements such as requirements and specs management, traceability of requirements, functional decompositions, risk management, IP strategy, and some knowledge of cost and business models.
17. Experience working in multi-disciplinary, intercultural environment.
18. Coordination with digital teams to insert technology as part of a digital infrastructure
