The SAGE Mission SAGE is a student satellite team with the ambitious goal of launching the first Cube Sat carrying human cells. The objective is to investigate how aging occurs differently in space compared to Earth. The team is dedicated to developing and testing a flight-ready spacecraft, learning about aerospace engineering along the way, and ultimately launching their contribution to space! The Position – Mission Operations Engineer The Mission Operations (MOps) team is responsible for designing and maintaining the Mission Operations Center (MOC) and operating the SAGE Cube Sat while it’s in space. The MOps team is currently developing and implementing the software stack that will be used to run the MOC and operate the satellite. The Mission Operations Engineer will therefore be focused on implementing and maintaining automated pipelines (mostly in Python) to perform orbit determination, orbit propagation, operations scheduling, and anomaly detection and resolution. The Mission Operations engineer will implement these pipelines in collaboration with domain experts (e.g., the Flight Dynamics Engineer). This is a great opportunity to learn about space mission operations. The Mission Operations Engineer will be working at the heart of a skilled and enthusiastic team of engineers and scientists and will be contributing to a real space mission. What you should bring: Comfortable with the Python programming language Capable of automating complex tasks Motivation to develop robust and maintainable software Ideal field of study: Computer Science Time Commitment:ca. 5 hours per week Team Commitment:at least two semesters Join us!Interested in joining the team? Write an email to sage-recruiting@aris-space.ch including your CV and a short description of your interests, relevant experience, and why you would like to join the team. Any questions? Reach out to cubesat@aris-space.ch.
