Job Description
We are seeking a Category Manager to support one of our clients, an international humanitarian organization based in Geneva. This is a temporary position starting as soon as possible at 90% capacity.
Main Responsibilities
* To develop and implement a global category strategy that aligns with the organization's overall strategies.
* To lead the definition of sourcing and supplier relationship strategies to meet customer needs and maximize value from suppliers.
* To identify initiatives and projects leading to continuous improvement of category management.
* To define action plans to ensure delivery of category strategy.
* To communicate category strategy during Procurement townhall and stakeholder leadership meetings.
* To partner with local procurement teams and stakeholders to identify unmet needs and drive execution of global strategies.
* To validate purchasing files above defined financial threshold and ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
* To coach and train site buyers and category buyers.
Sourcing and Supplier Management
* To engage proactively with stakeholders to anticipate needs and manage expectations.
* To participate in annual budget reviews to identify and plan sourcing initiatives.
* To establish and drive effective networks with suppliers, internal customers, categories, and site buyers.
* To ensure technical and functional business requirements are properly defined.
* To prospect, visit, define, and validate potential suppliers.
* To lead or structure request for information and request for tenders for categories and sub-categories.
* To lead business stakeholder engagement in supplier selection, evaluation, qualification, and management.
* To manage risks through proper contracting processes and involvement of key stakeholders.
* To ensure proper implementation of signed contracts and guarantee smooth handovers to regional/local procurement when appropriate.
* To exploit local, regional, and global synergies and provide optimal procurement support for sourcing projects.
* To support on-time, in-full delivery of sourcing projects.
* To manage supplier relationships according to category strategy and suppliers' tier categorization.
* To work with Suppliers, Procurement Officers, and Planning to reach OTIF targets.
* To monitor and report supplier performance during regular business reviews.
* To lead development of fact-based briefs for supplier meetings.
* To implement EDI with relevant suppliers.
* To guarantee auditability of procurement files by applying organization standard operating procedures and processes.
* To ensure all procurement documentation is available in the organization's compliance system.
* To support and communicate procurement policy and processes to stakeholders.
Analysis and Reporting
* To lead and coordinate data collection for global category strategy.
* To analyze demand, supply, market trends, cost drivers, best practices, and assess opportunities.
* To perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for strategic items.
* To participate in annual budgeting exercises and provide visibility of sourcing projects.
* To build sourcing pipelines and update status regularly in dedicated procurement systems.
* To contribute to cost reduction objectives and track record cost avoidance/savings in dedicated systems.
* To contribute to Procurement Key Performance Indicators and provide monthly input to unit dashboards.
Required Profile
* 12-15 years of professional experience, with 5-10 years working in indirect procurement in multinational environments as category manager or lead buyer of indirect categories.
* Solid experience in contract negotiation, contract management, stakeholder management, and supplier relationship management.
* Ability to monitor complex activities within global organizations with different experts and analyze purchase requests relevance.
* Previous experience in International Humanitarian Organizations, field experience is a plus.
* Knowledge of the procure-to-pay (P2P) process and use of ERP software.
* Master's degree in Procurement.
* Proficient in English/French, other languages appreciated.
