Position: Student Services Coordinator (100-80%)
Department: Office of Student Life
Reports to: Dean of Student Life
Overall Responsibilities
The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for managing the Franklin sponsored student health insurance policies and supporting the administrative team as needed. This role ensures compliance with insurance regulations, maintains accurate records, and assists in key administrative functions related to student services. Additionally, the coordinator will support the University’s operational needs, including residency permits, housing coverage, and on-call responsibilities.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Franklin sponsored student health insurance policies, medical bills, exemptions, claims processing, and related inquiries.
2. Ensure compliance with health insurance regulations and liaise with insurance providers and government agencies related to these efforts.
3. Coordinate with admissions to ensure that incoming students are properly enrolled in health insurance plans or are granted waivers.
4. Manage website content related to health insurance and coordinate the shipping and storage services for students.
5. Hold information sessions or workshops to educate both new and current students on the health insurance and immigration registration processes.
6. Create, organize, and maintain student records relevant to health insurance and administrative services, to include medical bills and insurance claims.
7. Support the administrative team with tasks related to residency permits, housing operations coverage, and other university-related processes.
8. Coordinate with local authorities regarding health insurance, permits, automobile licenses, and driver’s licenses.
9. Participate in the professional staff on-call rotation to address urgent after-hours student needs.
10. Collaborate with operational staff to ensure timely responses to emergency situations affecting students.
11. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, aligning with the department’s objectives and the University’s mission.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent education and work experience.
2. Excellent written and spoken English and Italian (min C1 level).
3. Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
4. Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrates understanding and respect for diverse backgrounds and experiences, adapting communication and support to individual needs.
5. Strong skills in managing and maintaining documentation and record keeping of administrative processes.
Highly Desired:
1. Master's degree from an accredited institution OR equivalent education and work experience.
2. Experience in student affairs at an institution of higher education.
3. Demonstrated competence in intercultural development and efforts to create inclusive communities.
4. Experience managing and processing Swiss residency permits and related immigration processes. Familiarity with health insurance policies and the enrollment process.
