The Mining Production Engineer plays a crucial role in the mining department by overseeing various aspects of the production process to ensure safety, compliance, quality standards, and efficiencies. Responsibilities: Production Planning: Optimise mine production schedules to maximise resource recovery and meet production targets. Collaborate with geologists to understand ore body characteristics and plan extraction methods accordingly. Collaborate with short-term and mid-term production planning engineers on extraction sequencing and methods. Collaborate with production coordinators on how to optimise equipment and manning to meet the mine plan. Operational Oversight: Monitor day-to-day mining operations to ensure adherence to production plans and schedules. Implement strategies to address operational challenges and bottlenecks. Optimise production processes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime. Equipment Optimisation: Monitor and report equipment performance issues. Recommend safety and productivity upgrades for equipment to improve efficiency. Safety Compliance: Ensure that mining operations comply with safety regulations and standards. Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections. Investigate accidents or incidents and recommend corrective actions. Cost Management: Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction. Optimise resource utilisation to achieve production goals within budget constraints. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective technologies and practices. Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, geologists, and operational teams. Provide technical guidance to mining personnel. Foster a collaborative and safety-conscious work culture. Data Analysis: Analyse production data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Implement data-driven decision-making processes to enhance efficiency. Utilise software tools for mine planning and simulation. Training and Education: Provide technical guidance and training to mining personnel. Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements. Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the production team. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in the mining industry, with a focus on mining production and safety management. Knowledge of mining software and tools. Experience in a team leadership role.
