Job Description
As a Research Associate in the Process Research group of the Fragrance Division, you will develop efficient and sustainable production processes for fragrance ingredients using your skills and creativity in organic chemistry.
You will focus on identifying and studying potential routes and technologies to produce our fragrance ingredients, collaborating with different S&T laboratories in Kemptthal (Zurich) and Givaudan's perfume creation teams.
Your primary goal is to improve and/or elaborate new synthetic procedures for sustainable fragrance materials, applying green chemistry principles to deliver efficient processes.
Your Responsibilities:
* Develop and optimize new synthesis methods for fragrance ingredients
* Plan and execute experiments to design and synthesize new fragrance compounds on a gram-to-multigram scale
* Collaborate with biotechnology and analytical laboratories to integrate knowledge and expertise
* Stay at the forefront of digital transformation and leverage technology to improve workflows and efficiency
* Record and document all data generated from experimental work, including results and conclusions
* Communicate findings and recommendations to line management to facilitate project progress
* Maintain a safe laboratory environment, sourcing lab supplies as needed, operating and maintaining equipment, and organizing laboratory space
Your Qualifications:
* Education as a laboratory technician (Laborantin/Laborant EFZ Chemie) in synthetic organic chemistry or equivalent education with relevant practical experience
* Experience in the field is advantageous
* Familiarity with lab equipment and its safe use to perform daily experimental work
* Ability to document experimental results and provide conclusions
* Strong knowledge of Environment, Health & Safety guidelines for laboratory operations
* Excellent English language skills, with the ability to record experimental details and conclusions in English. Fluency in German or French is an advantage
