JOB PURPOSE
An exciting opportunity exists for a world class Public Area Attendant & Florist to join our newly created luxury travel brand “Explora Journeys”. The Public Area Attendant & Florist maintains the plants and flowers in all public areas, suites and residences as well as keep a suitable inventory for plant/flower maintenance and bouquet creation. Partake in general housekeeping duties of the ship’s public areas as well as any other related tasks as specified by the Housekeeping Manager.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• The Public Area Attendant & Florist responsibilities include processing flower orders and receiving shipments, pruning the flowers at periodic intervals and arranging bouquets as per Company standard and guests’ requests.
• The Public Area Attendant & Florist needs to update themselves with flower-related information, keep an accurate track of all vases delivered in the guest suites.
• The Public Area Attendant & Florist will ensure that the flower locker is always clean and tidy, fridge stored flowers have clean water and the ends are trimmed regularly, the quantity of vases, pots ,Oasis, plant tape, wire and other cutting accessories are available for a proper activity.
• To ensure success as a florist, he/she should demonstrate accurate, updated knowledge regarding flowers' nutritional requirements.
• To familiarize oneself with the itinerary and follow up on flower orders according to the season and geographical area visited.
• Attend daily briefings conducted by the Assistant Housekeeper /Housekeeping Manager and regularly communicate with the Assistant Housekeeper regarding Housekeeping challenges, projects and matters.
• Follow the cleaning schedules put in place by the housekeeping management.
• Carry out any additional duties as instructed by the Assistant Housekeeper/ Housekeeping Manager.
• Ensure the garbage is disposed before the shift ends and that all garbage is separated in accordance with public health and environmental regulations.
• Complete the relevant logs for lint and garbage separation.
• Report any maintenance issues to the Assistant Housekeeper/ Housekeeping Manager.
• Follow the Timetable as instructed by management.
• Assist with embarkation / disembarkation duties as requested by management.
• Maintain, clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Shampoo carpets/upholstery when necessary, following the cleaning rotation.
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency at all times while on duty and offer assistance to other Hosts if and when needed.
• Assist in achieving the budgets by minimizing waste and breakage, maintaining proper handling procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
• High School diploma
• One year in a similar position. Cruise ship experience preferred
• Must be able to climb, bend, perform repetitive motion and eventually heavy lifting
• Must maintain physical fitness to perform tasks associated with performed role
• Basic knowledge of computers
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Any additional European language is considered an advantage.

Possess a valid passport and if available, a seaman book.
