R&D Analog Engineer
Sony Advanced Visual Sensing - (subsidiary of Sony Semiconductor Solutions)
Join the Sony family and shape how the global leader in image sensors enables new applications through innovative designs. As an R&D Analog Engineer, you will develop next-generation vision ASICs, using industry-leading Sony vision sensor process technologies.
Have you ever wondered if hardware design could be done better by closely collaborating with software and system engineers? Bring in your diverse knowledge to help bridge the hardware-software divide. Together we will build deep insights into the full camera system and enable new sensing modalities and applications.
Join us and fuel a new generation of vision-powered devices across the globe.
You will:
* Design innovative vision sensors at the transistor-level as well as higher abstraction-levels
* Improve efficiency of our design flow with development of modern practices and new tools
* Take ownership and follow your innovations from idea to product prototype
* Write code to model and simulate behavior of sensor circuit prototypes for dataset generation
* Work on areas where sensors and algorithms meet with the support of our computer vision, AI and hardware experts
* Coordinate developments within a multi-cultural work environment that spans engineering sites from Japan, Europe, and North America across the Sony Group organization
You bring:
* MSc or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, … or surprise us with a background that we did not think of yet!
* Experience in designing analog circuits, such as amplifiers, comparators, switch caps, etc.
* Experience with common IC design EDA tools (Cadence, Mentor, etc.)
* Interest in machine learning
* Experience with Python programming or another language
* Curiosity to actively learn and ask many questions
* Confident communication skills and fluency in English
You can set yourself apart if you have:
* Experience with modelling and simulation in Python, MATLAB, or similar
* Basic proficiency with an ML library, e.g. Pytorch/Pytorch lightning, TensorFlow/Keras
* Experience with relevant EDA scripting languages, such as OCEAN or SKILL
* A track record of innovation through publications and/or patents
* Experience in an R&D or startup environment
* Experience with mixed signal circuits, such as ADCs and DACs
* Basic knowledge of image sensor readout and pixel basics
* Basic knowledge of computer vision concepts
The position is within the Sony Advanced Visual Sensing (AVS) group which is an R&D center of Sony Semiconductor Solutions based in Zurich, Switzerland and a former spin-off of the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). We develop novel computer vision algorithms, vision sensors and sensing systems based on our world-leading sensing expertise, including event-based cameras, CMOS cameras, and more. We’re a small, flexible, and motivated team where everybody can talk to everybody and give inputs on any topic at any time. The team continues to actively reshape itself and everybody can have a big influence not only on technical topics but also on our culture and the way we work. We strive to give people the space to learn new things and develop themselves. We value and empower the individual to empower us!
Sony Semiconductor Solutions (sony-semicon.com) is the world market leader in image sensors, and it is very likely that you knowingly or unknowingly already take your photos with a Sony image sensor. Sony is using its advanced technology to conquer new fields and markets. If you join us, you will be at the forefront of these activities.
